Why should you join a Connection Group?
Because you can't do it on your own!

  • You need encouragement when you're down.
  • You need comfort when you're hurting.
  • You need challenge when you're lagging.
  • You need activity when you're bored.
  • You need teamwork when you're isolated.
  • You need friendship when you're lonely.
  • You need laughter when you're stressed.
  • You need help when you're in crisis.
  • You need acceptance when you're ashamed.
  • You need honesty when you're faking it.
  • You need wisdom when you're unsure.

Connection Groups are the heartbeat of New Hope Community Church! They are the primary vehicle for accomplishing all that God desires to do in us and through us—to love one another, to learn about God, to worship Him, to serve others, and to share Christ’s love with the world. Best of all, Connection Groups help us grow closer to one another as we do all these things together.

Care Groups
Connecting people as they care for one another

Primary purposes: Loving one another and sharing Christ’s love with the world

Description: Care Groups offer hope in times of difficulty in areas such as marriage, family, finances, loss of a loved one, addictions, divorce recovery, weight management, abortion, gambling and more.

Examples: DivorceCare, GriefShare, First Place

Next Step: New Care Group sessions usually start each September and January. Summer sessions are also sometimes available. Contact us to find out more.

Community Groups
Connecting people who live near one another

Primary purposes: Loving one another, learning about God, and serving others

Description: Community Groups provide a fun, relaxed environment where people can get to know one another, relax, eat, and have a discussion about a specific topic or study. Groups are organized primarily by geographical location, but also often by life stages. Meetings take place in host homes.

Examples: Bryan Area Group, Stryker/West Unity G-roup

Next Step: Getting into a Community Group is easy! Stop by the next GroupLink informational meeting on Sunday, August 17th at 11:00 AM in NC 102 (North Campus). You'll learn more about groups that are currently open with no pressure to join a group until you're ready.

Life Groups
Connecting people who are in similar stages of life

Primary purposes: Loving one another, learning about God, and serving others

Description: Life Groups are very similar to Community Groups but usually meet at the church rather than homes, are larger groups, and are organized more by life stages rather than geographical location. Like Community Groups, Life Groups are a great way to meet new people while laughing and learning together.

Examples: Empty Nesters, MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers), PrimeTime

Next Step: Download the listing of current groups to find out when the next meeting date and time will be for the group you're interested in. No need to register beforehand. Just show up and enjoy!

Soar Groups
Connecting people as they enjoy recreational activities

Primary purposes: Loving one another and sharing Christ’s love with the world

Description: SOAR (Sports, Outreach, And Recreation) Groups use fun activities as common ground for inviting those outside our church to get to know us. The relaxed, non-threatening environment helps build bridges to new friendships and casual conversations that can lead to important steps toward God.

Examples: Men’s Open Gym Basketball, Ladies’ Scrapbooking Nights

Next Step: Stay tuned in to our weekly bulletin to find out what events are coming soon.

Study Groups
Connecting people as they learn from God’s Word

Primary purposes: Learning about God

Description: Study Groups spend most of their time learning about God and then applying His principles to their lives. Some groups dig in to a specific book of the Bible to discover more about its original context, author, audience, and meaning. Other groups study what the Bible has to say about a specific topic such as marriage or finances.

Examples: Precept Bible Studies, Crown Financial Studies, Men’s and Women’s Topical Studies

Next Step: Most of our Study Groups start in the fall and continue throughout the year, though some new sessions begin in January/February each year. New Starting Point sessions start frequently. Download the listing of current groups to read about what we currently have available and feel free to contact us to find out when the next session will be starting.

Our hope for you as a part of our church family is that you will find fulfillment in deepening your relationship with God and with new friends. The best way to start that journey, we believe, is to join at least one Connection Group and stay committed to it for a trial period. Contact us and we'll be happy to help you discover a group that is right for you!
